READ THIS......BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP by SJ Watson.
  1. This psychological thriller is based on the worldwide best-selling novel about a woman who wakes up every day remembering nothing - the result of a traumatic accident in her past - until one day, new terrifying truths emerge that force her to question everyone around her...
I LOVE to read, thats not news. I LOVE my Kobo. That too is not news. But a great book, an awesome book....well thats hard to find amongst the squillions of average reads published everyday. This story is beyond brilliant. Read it. Now. Tonight.
    Nighty. Sweet dreams.

WEAR A LITTLE PLAID.... There's something about checks. It spells comfort for me. Casual. Cosy. Weekend away. I have never met a plaid I haven't loved. Its so versatile, works great in winter as tartan or in summer as madras or even gingham. Plaid gives such a warm, earthy feel. Whether its black & white or a mixture of jewel tones, it works. Everytime. Get some into your life.

SNUGGLE UP & READ THIS.... You'll love it. And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini.  Author of the Kite Runner & my very favourite 'A Thousand Splendid Suns'. Crossing generations and continents, moving from Kabul to Paris, then onto the Greek Islands. Khaled Housseini writes about the bonds that define us and shape our lives, the ways that we help our loved ones in need, how the choices we make resonate through history, and how we are often surprised by the people closest to us. I have read a few of Khaled's novels & he is a wonderful writer, engrossing, deep & compassionate. Happy reading x

MAKE MY DUCK FAT POTATOES.... You are going to LOVE these. So special. The perfect side to a great steak. A homemade pie. Sunday night roast. They're a no brainer, but taste like you won Masterchef. Now the choice of potatoes is essential. Dutch Cream. You can find these almost everywhere now. Most big supermarkets & of course at your local weekend market. So here goes, you can thank me later.

My Duck Fat Potatoes
1 kg Dutch Cream potatoes
1 tub Duck Fat (find it at any poultry store or in the poultry section
of the fresh meat department at your local supermarket)
Smoked paprika
Sea salt
Fresh ground pepper

Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
Peel the potatoes and slice in half, place in a roasting pan.
Add 4-5 heaped tablespoons of duck fat to the pan.
Sprinkle the potatoes with lots of smoked paprika, sea salt & freshly ground pepper.
Put the potatoes in the oven & lower the temperature to 180 degrees.
After 15 mins, give the potatoes a good toss & then cook for a further 15 mins & toss again.
Roast for a further 15 mins.

Voila. They're ready. Now if you're like me & love spuds.
Pop some in a bowl, pour a class of red & enjoy!

GET SOME PRINT & COLOUR INTO YOUR LIFE.... I absolutely love colour and prints. On my clothes, shoes, artwork, furniture, on the kids, on my man, even in the form of graffiti on a lane way wall. It says HAPPY to me. I love that Melbourne is no longer black & if you visit the creative North side of our river (Fitzroy, Northcote, Clifton Hill) you'll see it everywhere. On people, the streets & cafes.
Black is common. Easy. Unimaginative. Everyone can do black well. But only the stylish & creative understand colour.
Look at these examples of colour in its best forms & see if I can inspire you?? Have a happy colour filled week. Mwah.

BUY A PIZZA MAKER.... These are seriously great. Don't know how I could live without one. My girlfriend lent me one to try, as I'm ususally not a gadget person. I cant stand useless things in the kitchen. Plug ins that look good but you only use once a year & they take ages to clean. Eg. Popcorn maker, Slushie maker, Waffle maker, thank you Santa! But the Pizza Maker. Brilliant. Costs about $120 & boy does it get used. We buy ready made bases (they are best super thin, Italian style). You spoon over some tomato paste or puree, thinly sliced double smoked ham, a scattering of pineapple, then cover with shredded mozarella & a drizzle of galic infused oil. YUM. In fact add whatever you fancy. We love a Hawaiian. And if you have a load of starving teens flying through your house (like I do), its so economical & they think I'm 'ace'. Find one at Minimax, House, Essential Ingredient or any kitchen supply store. Saturday night homemade pizza & the footy. Perfect.
